Cooking- Learning to Embrace what is not Natural for Me....

Cooking- not on my list of favorite things to do nor is it a hobby, but I intend to embrace the fact that I don't enjoy it and learn to like it. I am hoping it's like the time I learned to like Diet Coke...some things are just an "acquired taste."

So- after many attempts to try cooking and basically not even trying...I have decided to give it another shot. This time I prayed and thought about why I didn't like it and attempt to find solutions to the problem of cooking. I realized that if it is too complicated, takes too long, and/or requires too many ingredients...like a pinch of some spice called cumin or thyme (that I do not have)...then I most likely will not make it or make it and it will be gross.

Now....we've all heard that "food is the way to a man's heart...." and I do not believe I ever understood this statement before. But....I have married a food man...he LOVES food....and a variety of it. Now...he is a good man and he will go to the grocery store and he even cooks....but doesn't desire to do so EVERY night. This leaves me with a few nights a week that I must attempt the dreaded chore. My negative attitude and hate disdain for cooking and lack of a variety of cuisine for supper is not making my man very happy. Some of us feminist women (yup I'm one) may say....oh well - let him get over it. But, I love this man and he is good to me and I figure if cooking him a nice yummy meal makes "us" happy and keeps the stars in his eyes...well then it's worth my making an effort to try.

That said- I have found a wonderful line of cookbooks that require no more than 5 ingredients (including the meat) and that are super simple and VERY quick...and to top it all off- they are delicious.

Right now I am using Campbell's 1-2-3 Dinner and so far I have tried the "Creamy Pesto Chicken and Bow ties" and " Mushroom Garlic Pork Chops" and my man (and kids to boot) have loved them both!!! Weldon even said the Pesto Chicken looked nasty but when he was so hungry he tasted it - he ate a whopping two bowls! I took it left over and it was twice as good!

So- I leave you with this pondering question...

What things do you do to make your hubby / wife happy even though you really don't care to....but you know it makes your marriage better?

Blessings,
Amber

Campbell's has really great recipes- and easy! You can find a lot of them online, too.
